Dufour 44 Performance ICARO

Dufour 44 Performance, for the 2nd time winner of Copa Del Rey (ORC 570)

For the second year in a row, Luis Mas from Motyvel, Dufour importer in Spain and owner of a Dufour 44 Performance, took part in the famous Spanish championship. Last year already, his Dufour 44 ICARO won the Copa Del Rey 2007. This year, the Spanish team lead by the skipper Carles Rodriguez, once again succeeded in reaching first place. “It was not easy, the level of the fleet was very good, we had to work hard”, explained Luis Mas after the victory.



Before the Copa Del Rey, 6 regattas were held; this allowed the team to check every detail on board and to handle the boat effectively. “The Dufour 44 is an excellent racer; she has enabled us to obtain once again very good performances this year. “It is the second season that we race with this Dufour 44, it is a real good racer and the results are excellent. On the first day already, the Dufour 44 ICARO showed her excellent level by always being placed among the first”. After taking several podiums during the regattas of the season, the team arrived in Palma with the firm intention to defend their title once again. “Our goal was the victory, we would have been a bit disappointed by second or third place; we had to bring out the most in ourselves to succeed”.



Finally, the Dufour 44 ICARO finished the Championship with 9 points ahead of the second place. The Dufour yachts are part of the Copa Del Rey history; the 4 last editions were won by Dufour boats (Dufour 34, Dufour 40 and Dufour 44). This shows great work and excellent collaboration between the Dufour Boatyard, the architect Umberto Felci and the Motyvel team.
